What you’ll achieve

Dell Technologies is currently looking for an experienced Software Senior Engineer who will be a member of the global APEX Developer Experience! You will play a key role in the smooth delivery of high-value features that enhance productivity for our APEX engineering organization. This includes, but is not limited to, build infrastructure, artifact generation/management, tooling evaluation, selection, integration and support, and automated onboarding and deployment. You will work, and interact regularly, with software engineers (in cloud microservice development and IT), TechOps, Infrastructure, SecOps, Product Marketing and other Scrum teams, operating within a Scrum-at-Scale framework.

You will:

  • Partner with product owners and APEX engineering teams on design, requirements, and implementation of state of the art CI|CD

  • Design and implement end-to-end solutions for Source Control, Continuous Integration, Infrastructure Automation, Deployment Automation & Orchestration

  • Work with Github, Jira, Confluence, Artifactory, Kubernetes and Docker

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with teams, contributing to driving the software development process towards quality-centric methodologies with improved reliability and stability

  • Proactively analyze current software delivery processes and practices and then suggest and drive improvements

  • Make well-informed cost/benefit based decisions on all aspects of DevOps and tooling, based on real-world professional experience

  • Create end-to-end pipeline for microservices in Jenkins with shared Groovy libraries, and maintain deployments in various environments

  • Provide troubleshooting support to development teams, with a “delight the customer” focus

Here’s what we are looking for with this role:

Highly Desirable Requirements

  • Several years of DevOps CI|CD development, deploying and maintaining global multi-tiered infrastructures and applications

  • Programming experience with Python, Golang and/or scripting (or similar programming experience)

  • Strong experience creating CI|CD pipelines in Jenkins and/or other environments

  • Deployment automation across several instances

  • Good understanding of, and practical experience, with container technology such as Kubernetes/Docker

  • Experience with Istio, micro-services, RDBMS and NoSQL databases

  • Sound experience and understanding of microservice deployment without downtime

  • Understanding of OOPS concepts with Groovy-based pipelines

  • Working experience with GIT, merging and branching strategies

  • Working knowledge and practice within Agile development frameworks (Scrum, SAFE, Scrum at Scale)

  • Experience working in Cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Pivotal Cloud Foundry

Desirable Requirements

  • Infrastructure Automation using tools such as Puppet, Chef and/or Ansible

  • PKS Cluster, or similar transferable skills/experience, administration and production (observability/monitoring) support
